Tecnofrío 2020 will be held in a virtual format on 30 September and 1 October and will analyse the current situation of the refrigeration installations sector, both linked to commercial refrigeration and to industrial processes, and will project the evolution of the sector over the coming years
Producing cold and knowing how to use it is an essential technique for our society and fundamental in the current industrial development, not only in many of the daily tertiary and domestic activities, but also in the tertiary sector, food industry, of greater installed powers and pharmaceutical sector.
This technique is one of the most sensitive activities in the production chains for the above-mentioned sectors due to the degree of reliability they must offer in terms of operation and load variations, and whose performance generates high energy consumption.
Given that the potential for energy savings in these installations is significant, there are several energy actions which, in general, can be carried out in such a way that certain improvements have a very significant direct impact on reducing electricity consumption and on the durability of the elements of the installation. Likewise, the incorporation of renewable and waste energy sources is beginning to be important in refrigeration installations. With this, the refrigeration sector is aligned with the European Union’s commitments to decarbonise the economy by 2050.
Consequently, all measures taken to optimise industrial refrigeration plants from an energy point of view will have a major impact on structural change in the sector.
